The School of Music is pleased to welcome critically acclaimed violinist and 2008 Avery Fisher Prize winner Gil Shaham to the school for a master class with UW string students on Friday, January 7, 3:30 p.m. in Brechemin Auditorium. Students performing for Shaham include Jae-In Shin and Sol Im, violin, and the UW Quantum String Quartet (violinists Kouki Tanaka and Meeae Hong, violist David Colmenares, and cellist Natalie Hall).
Shaham is in Seattle this week to perform Bela Bartok’s Violin Concerto No. 2 with the Seattle Symphony on Thursday, January 6 and Saturday, January 8.
Among his more than two dozen concerto and solo CDs are a number of best sellers, appearing on record charts in the U.S. and abroad. These recordings have earned prestigious awards, including multiple Grammys, a Grand Prix du Disque, a Diapason d’Or l’Annee, and a Gramophone Editor’s Choice.
