Please join us in Brechemin Auditorium at 12:30 pm on Monday, Oct. 4 for a special appearance by the Lee Konitz New Quartet. Konitz, whose career spans six decades and stints with some of the greatest names in jazz, is considered one of the most fluent and distinctive alto saxophonists in jazz history. Revered in the jazz world for establishing his own unique voice on the alto saxophone while most others were under the huge influence of Charlie Parker, his association with the Cool Jazz movement of the 1950s included participation in Miles Davis’ legendary Birth of the Cool sessions. Still going strong as a driving force of post-bop improvisation, Konitz now appears regularly with his New Quartet, which includes the members of Trio Minsarah–pianist Florian Weber, bassist Jeff Denson, and drummer Ziv Ravitz.
This event is free and open to the public and will include a Q and A session, brief performance, and conversation. We hope you can join us and that you will also alert others who might be interested.
