New Art class for everyone on campus

Instructor: Eric Fredrickson, Director of Western Bridge and former editor and writer at The Stranger and Architecture.

The course will survey critical ideas in Contemporary art practice. Weekly lectures by nationally recognized visiting artist will introduce a wide range of artistic positions and practices. Topics include the role of contemporary art education, relational aesthetics, the influence of sub-cultural forms and practices in art, the ÒdeskillingÓ of art, social practices, and art practice outside of the production of art works. This new class will combine weekly lectures by nationally recognized visiting artists with readings, discussions and screenings to introduce and develop the issues informing contemporary art and new models of practice.
