New Arts Blogger

19 Oct

Hi Arts Enthusiasts! I’m on the student ArtsLink advisory panel and will be blogging over the course of this year about arts events and the like. As an introduction, I’m Milena, a sophomore studying Art History and Spanish. I am interested in a wide range of art, Spanish and Italian Renaissance/Baroque in particular, but also anything from ancient sculpture to modern photography. Snapshot

I’m planning on attending various arts related events throughout the year, mainly at (but not limited to) the UW campus. On the blog, I’ll warn of/rally for some of these events in advance, and review some of them as well afterwards. Hopefully we can share some thoughts here, as I’d like to know what you all think as well.

First I plan on checking out

The Jacob Lawrence Gallery!
12-4 Wednesday through Saturday, currently being shown is:
An exhibition of work by Ellen Garvens in conjunction with candidacy to full professor. Associate Professor of Photography Ellen Garvens exhibits her constructions, photographs, and drawings which are of fragments of bodies and their surrogates as a reflection on the experience of touch, balance, and memory.

Also, this Friday I’ll be attending the Henry Open House – Fall 2009
Friday, October 23, 2009, 6:00 – 11:00 PM

Member and Patron Preview: 6-8PM FREE
General admission: 8-11PM
$10 / $6 Students and Seniors
Check out what’s being exhibited

Hope to see you there!

Hi Milena and welcome to the blogoshere!
Thanks for shouting out to the Henry’s Open House Friday.
Have you signed up for your free student membership at the Henry? UW students can sign up at the Henry front desk.
