La Traviata! By Giuseppe Verdi
This glamorous and heartfelt portrait of a worldly courtesan forced to give up the man of her dreams is arguably the most popular and accessible of Verdi’s masterpieces. Returning to Seattle Opera for the first time in 13 years, the tale of masked revelry, family strife, blighted love, and selfless sacrifice weaves an amazing range of emotions and moods into a nearly perfect dramatic confection. The memorable score positively glows with poignant preludes, inspired ensembles, and marvelously crafted duets. La Traviata is an irresistible classic.
