Corin Hewitt: Weavings, Performance #2 (Portland, Oregon)

Marisa Sánchez, Assistant Curator of Modern & Contemporary Art, discusses the 75 photographs created by Corin Hewitt in a public studio space in Portland, Oregon, in September 2007. His ephemeral still lifes, composed of organic and inorganic objects and materials, were arranged and then photographed on vibrant fabrics. The compositions explore concepts of decay, memory, loss and preservation.
Learn more about SAM’s collections and exhibitions from curators and local experts. These morning lectures are scheduled on the first Friday of every month, when seniors age 62 and over are admitted to SAM installations for free and to special exhibitions at a reduced price.
