Need Writing Help? Ask Betty.

18 Mar

The goal of Ask Betty is to provide useful information about English grammar for college writers. The site is organized according to the most common questions and problems students encounter in academic writing. Feel free to browse the site or select from the menu below to find the help you’re looking for.

* Grammar in College Writing and Grammar for ESL sections take a rhetorical approach to the problem of error, so in both you’ll find helpful explanations of grammatical rules as well as when to apply them.

* The Instructor Comments section analyzes instructor feedback on actual student papers to suggest ways of using margin notes to help with revision.

* Grammar FAQ provides answers to some of the most common grammar questions. Browse what’s already been asked or submit your own question.

* Our Online Resource Guide suggests additional writing resources available on campus and the Web.

The Ask Betty site began as a collaborative effort by UW English graduate students Krisda Chaemsaithong and Daniel Griesbach, under the guidance of Professor Anis Bawarsh and with technical assistance from Louisa Peck and Rob Weller.
