Want to Write About Adventures in the Wilderness?

29 Jan

Come to the University Branch Seattle Public Library, and get some tips from successful author Susan Zwinger.
Escape to the wilderness through your words. Recall the drama of whale spouts, coyote howls, loon quavers, and give yourself over to the muse of writing.

Susan Zwinger, author of five books on natural history, will lead you through writing exercises to increase your skills in nonfiction and poetry nature writing.
There will be discussions on essay and poetry forms and their wide possibilities. You will be taught how to engage all your senses and heighten your attentiveness in the outdoors. Some of the writing skills we’ll be focusing on are: metaphor, archetype, organization, humor, illusion, symbolism and many more. Please bring any natural history notes you may have taken.
