“I am my own Wife” at ArtsWest — May 14-June 11 —

10 May

Footlight Award Winner NICK DeSANTIS stars as Charlotte von Mahlsdorf, a soft-spoken German transvestite who survived the cruel regimes of both the Nazis and the Communists. Based on interviews with the real Charlotte von Mahlsdorf by playwright Doug Wright (Quills), this one-man show features harrowing tales of endurance and survival that are nothing short of breathtaking. But are they true? And does it matter? This Pulitzer-Prize winning drama, which premiered in a theater about the size of ArtsWest, went on to win the Tony Award for Best Play of the Year.

Nick DeSantis recently wowed ArtsWest audiences in Bat Boy the Musical, tick, tick…BOOM!, La Bete, and How I Got That Story.
