“Answered Prayers and Other Tragedies” at The Hugo House on March 28th

Ben Blum, the winner of the Hugo House New Works Competition for “Answered Prayers and Other Tragedies,” will read his piece “Love, Robert Pinsky” on March 28 along with poet Sherman Alexie, columnist for The Stranger David Schmader, and writer Michelle Tea.


“Sherman Alexie, Michelle Tea, David Schmader and musician Sean Nelson all produce new work that asks “Is the only real tragedy getting what you want?” Also featuring Ben Blum, the winner of the New Works Competition. ”


“There’s more to Ben Blum—author of “Love, Robert Pinsky,” the winning story in our New Works Competition—than meets the eye. Ben, a writer, researches protein structure prediction for his Ph.D. in computer science, plays accordion and plans to pursue an M.F.A. in fiction in the fall”
