TONIGHT: An Evening of Opera

16 Feb

3-opera.jpgMembers of the Seattle Opera Young Artists perform Leonard Bernstein’s one-act opera, Trouble in Tahiti. Is this a simple tale of an unhappily married suburban couple, or a brilliant commentary on love, modern living and the frustrations of being human? Partially autobiographical, the opera explores the challenges of family life, personal relationships and self worth, as seen through the eyes of an ordinary coulpe and ther very own Greek chorus: a sharp-tongued trio that delivers pointed barbs with the charm of the Andrews Sisters. Under the leadership of General Director Speight Jenkins and Educational Director Perry Lorenzo, the Seattle oPera Young Artists also perform a selection of Mozart arias, and the orchestra performs overtures from two Mozart operas, The Impresario and Idomeneo.
