Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi

Nominated for a 2008 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature based on the autobiographical novel by Marjane Satarapi, an Iranian native who came of age during the tightening of civil liberties in Iran and the early years of the Iran-Iraq war. Her story is brought to life with innovative animation and stirring French text (translated for American audiences).

She will be speaking at The Moore Theatre on April 14, 2008 at 7:30pm. Tickets ($25 – $32, not including fees) are available December 19 at 10 am through April 13.
