Seattle Symphony and the University Symphony Side by Side. 7:30 PM - Seattle Symphony musicians join the University Symphony in a “side by side” performance of Mahler’s majestic First Symphony. Begins with a Mozart piano concerto.

JRR Tolkien: A Storyteller’s Story, “Allegory and Farewell”

This lecture takes up the question of how Tolkien’s work has been interpreted and received over the years, from accusations of racism and sexism to Peter Jackson’s recent film adaptations. The last word, however, is given to Tolkien himself. Join us as we examine the stories and poems of his later years and watch him reflect on how he chose to spend his life, and on the frequently tortured relationship between creator and creation. Kane Hall Room 130 UW Seattle Campus. 7-9 PM $5 Students $15 Non-Students. More Info

Kroupa is a book arts and rare books curator who collects objects and ephemera related to these distinct and fascinating traditions.
