This afternoon ArtsLink and Parnassus cafe are teaming up for another Parnassus emerging artist series event (PEAS). The group is Datura, a collection of talented UW jazz musicians. Whether you want to enjoy this afternoon concert, need coffee, or have studying to do, bring it down to the cafe, and enjoy some wonderful afternoon jazz!

The famed Musee du Louvre has taken up shop on 1st Avenue in our own city! An exhibition straight from Paris, “Roman Art” celebrates centuries of divine, courtly, and regal rule in ancient Rome. From peasants to emperors, visitors to the Seattle Art Museum from February 21st to May, will be privy to this exquisite portal to classical Rome which has commanded respect from the artistic community for hundreds of years.

This is an exhibit that is surely not to be missed; pleasing history buffs, art lovers, and literatti’s alike.

Andrew Franks, undergraduate filmmaker, will be screening several of his videos and answering questions about pursing his creative passion at the UW. Through work in Cinema Studies and DXARTS as well as experiences outside of the classroom, Andrew has been able to design for himself a singular and meaningful educational opportunity. The Parnassus Emerging Artist Series is a casual forum for undergraduate student artists in the visual, literary and performing arts to exhibit and present their work and talk about their educational experiences and artistic practice with their fellow students. Poets, photographers, musicians, filmmakers, designers, and dancers — all current students or recent alumni — answer questions from the audience in an open-ended format. For students investigating the arts as a possible major, this is a great opportunity to learn more in an interactive, informal context.
